Personal Injury Evaluation

Dr. Mark Ackerman specializes in generating psychodiagnostic reports for plaintiff and defense personal injury lawsuit cases, through his Atlanta, GA office.

Traumatic events (e.g. medical malpractice, accidents of any kind, e.g. auto, slip and fall injuries, assault) resulting in emotional and/or physical injury, lost time from work and disability can have psychological consequences, such as depression, anxiety, memory deficit or post-traumatic stress (PTSD), and may be of great relevance to a legal case. Mental and emotional conditions are not easily recognized without expert evaluation, which I can provide through objective psychological testing, interview of self, family and significant others, and review of medical and psychiatric records. In addition, it is well established that a period of prolonged and stressful litigation can trigger additional problems including financial hardship, marital stress, employment difficulties and the various sequelae frequently accompanying these circumstances such as anger, exacerbation of health problems (e.g. chronic pain) and sometimes secondary gain. An objective assessment of personality characteristics can also be of value in examining responses to stress, screen for malingering and also for treatment planning. Each of these factors can be evaluated and communicated through a professionally designed psychodiagnostic evaluation and written report. I have extensive experience working within medical settings and with the medical community. I work with both plaintiff and defense cases. Please click here to learn more.
